The Financial Burden of Using An Egg Donor or Gestational Surrogate in Kansas City
July 25, 2013Building a family through the use of an egg donor, gestational surrogate, or sometimes both, can be an emotionally exhausting journey. The realization of the dream of having a baby is worth the journey for those that reflect back on their journey after their baby (or babies) are born.
Most are able to recover quickly and enjoy the family they worked so hard to build. However, there is one aspect of the journey that is much more difficult to recover from, and that is the financial burden that third-party reproduction brings.
Many individuals and couples cannot even consider the options because they simply cannot afford it. And even if they figure out a way, it leaves them with starting the journey of parenthood, which is quite an expensive endeavor itself, financially strained.
If you are considering family building through third-party reproduction, know that there are companies and clinics that offer fertility financing programs and options. Although these programs do not eliminate the financial burden of third-party reproduction, they can help you afford more options, and allow you to budget for your treatment. Resolve, The National Infertility Association, offers a list of products and programs that offer infertility financing programs. You can learn more about these programs here.
Why do people in Kansas City use egg donors to have a baby?
July 18, 2013The medical terminology given to women/couples that are candidates for utilizing an egg donor to conceive are women with premature ovarian failure or diminished ovarian reserve. Many people have never heard those terms, and will never fully understand the emotional and psychological burden of those that carry the diagnoses.
Emotionally, women and couples that utilize an egg donor to conceive do so because they want to realize their dream of experiencing pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting. In some ways, the wonderful feeling of hope which egg donation gives to others, is similar to what people experience that receive the gift of organ donation to extend their life.
For those that dream of having a baby or babies, using an egg donor is not part of that dream, at least initially. But for those whose dreams are shattered by the diagnoses of infertility, and the inability to realize what we all assume is our reproductive right, it is an amazing opportunity.

Motivation for Egg Donors in Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri
June 28, 2013Although the motivation to donate their eggs varies among women, there are some common reasons why young women want to donate their eggs. As is commonly known, egg donors are generously compensated for their time and effort to donate their eggs to others that need an egg donor to build their families. Certainly financial compensation is a motivating factor, but for many young egg donors, other motivators are as important, or more important to them. The biggest motivator for egg donors to donate is the satisfaction they receive knowing they provided an opportunity to another women to experience pregnancy and motherhood. Many egg donors state they would donate their eggs even if there were not financial compensation. Many intended parents are initially concerned about the motivation of egg donors, and if a donor might in the future try to find them, and/or any children that are conceived from their donation. This is a reasonable but unfounded concern. There is not any research to support this common fear, and in fact, research shows that the only future oriented concerns or thoughts egg donors have about their donation, is that the families raising their donor conceived child are good parents, and that the children are well cared for and loved.
