Fresh Cycle Donor Eggs in Kansas City vs Frozen Donor Eggs: Which Option is Best?
August 30, 2013Trying to decide whether doing a fresh in vitro fertilization cycle using an egg donor that you picked, being able to use all eggs retrieved from the cycle for your family building, or doing a frozen egg cycle by purchasing a lot of eggs from an egg bank, is not an easy decision to make. There are pros and cons to both options.
An important first step in the decision making process is to understand the differences between the options. Know the difference between a fresh cycle, a frozen egg cycle, and a thaw cycle. They are different, and important for you to understand. It is also very important to look at the decision in the context of your overall family building plan. Using frozen donor eggs CAN be a cheaper option, but only under certain conditions. It is important to understand what those are.

Pathways To Parenthood Egg Donor in Kansas City makes dreams come true
August 15, 2013I was thrilled recently to learn that a couple that utilized a Pathways To Parenthood Egg Donor is pregnant!!! Although it is early in the pregnancy, and we all must still remain cautiously optimistic, the fact that they have experienced positive results in their journey to become parents is such wonderful news. Sharing in their joy makes all of the hard work that we do more than worth it. Sharing in their joy reminded me why I got this crazy idea to start an egg donor and surrogacy agency in the first place. : )
The Importance of BMI for Egg Donors and Surrogates in Kansas City
August 9, 2013In order to be considered for surrogacy or egg donation, applicants have to meet certain basic criteria. One of these criteria is a candidate’s height to weight ratio, or Body Mass Index (BMI). Why is it important?
For those that are unfamiliar with the term, BMI is a number calculated from a person’s height and weight and provides an indication of body fat percentage. This number is important for assisted reproduction and third-party reproduction because it is related to an individual’s ability to conceive and maintain a healthy pregnancy.
For egg donors whose BMI is out of the normal range, it may be difficult to regulate their cycle and adequately and safely predict the dosage of fertility drugs needed. For surrogates that have a BMI that is too high, they are less likely to conceive, and run a greater risk of miscarriage.
Many potential egg donor and gestational surrogate candidates don’t qualify because of their BMI. The good news is you can always start a weight loss program, or weight gain program, and apply when your BMI is within the normal range. To learn if your BMI is in the acceptable range, please contact us today.
