Q. How much will I be compensated for being a Gestational Surrogate?
Q. Will I be genetically related to the child I will be carrying?
A. NO, you will not have a genetic connection to any children you will be carrying. There are two types of surrogacy arrangements, traditional surrogacy, and gestational surrogacy, also known as a gestational carrier. Traditional surrogacy is when a woman (surrogate) is inseminated with Future Dad’s semen, and if their own egg(s) are fertilized, a pregnancy results. In this case, the traditional surrogate releases the child when born to the Future Parents. PATHWAYS TO PARENTHOOD DOES NOT DO TRADITIONAL SURROGACY ARRANGEMENTS.
As a gestational surrogate (carrier), an embryo created from the Future Parents egg and sperm, or sometimes an egg donor or sperm donor is utilized by Future Parents to create an embryo(s), is transferred to the uterus of the gestational surrogate. A gestational surrogate has no genetic relationship to the baby.
Q. Do I use my own insurance?
A. If you have your own insurance, we will review it to see if it covers surrogate pregnancies. Pathways To Parenthood will make sure that the policies are safe and secure for our surrogates and future parents. If your policy has an exclusion for surrogacy, we will have you apply for a surrogate maternity policy to cover OB care and delivery. This policy will be paid for by the future parents.
Q. Will all of my expenses be covered?
A. There are not any out of pocket expenses for our gestational surrogates. If you have any minor expenses, you are always reimbursed. Should you need travel accommodations, all travel related expenses are covered by the future parents.
Q. How long does it take to get matched?
Pathways to Parenthood offers immediate matching as soon as your screening process has been completed.
